Official Announcement: Smashing Pumpkins Australian/NZ Tour Dates
In addition to playing the sold out Splendour in the Grass festival, we’re excited to announce that Smashing Pumpkins will be playing very special sideshows in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland.
For these headline performances, THE SMASHING PUMPKINS will be debuting a unique stage design in Australia created to reflect the visual themes to go along with the full presentation of their new album, “Oceania” – which is set for release on June 22, 2012, through Create/Control – as well as playing plenty of classic Pumpkins catalogue.
Said Billy Corgan of the new show: “Australia is the perfect place to usher in a new era of The Smashing Pumpkins, where we look to combine an epic rock show with the latest in visual mapping technology to create a one-of-a-kind experience for our fans.”

Wolfmother to support Smashing Pumpkins on Australian dates
The bio for Smashing Pumpkins on Ticketmaster’s site has been updated a short while ago to include details of a tentative ticket sale date (edit: since been removed) and support band for the bands Splendour sideshow dates.
According to Ticketmaster’s write-up of Secret Sounds’ press release, Wolfmother will play support to the band on two of the dates.

Smashing Pumpkins to headline Splendour In The Grass in July.
IT’S OFFICIAL.
Smashing Pumpkins are headed to Australia as one of the main acts for Splendour In The Grass, alongside Jack White, At The Drive-In, Bloc Party, The Shins, and more.
Whilst the Pumpkins are playing such a massive festival show, there’s still time to cross our collective fingers for a handful of sideshows. Unlike other headline acts such as At The Drive-In, listed with a ‘Only Australian Show’ disclaimer, Smashing Pumpkins may just be free to play a sideshow if they please…

Smashing Pumpkins rumoured for Splendour In The Grass lineup
The rumour mill is hard at work with under 24 hours till the official first announcement of Byron Bay’s 3 day Splendour In The Grass festival in July.
According to music site Polaroids Of Androids, they’ve heard from their ‘Inside Source’ that the Pumpkins are CONFIRMED to play the festival, alongside recently reformed At The Drive-In.
Whether this rumour holds any truth will be seen tomorrow with the release of lineup information from the festival organisers.
‘Oceania’ is due for release on June 19th, which only adds more fodder to the rumour mill.

As “Gossamer” came to a close and the band said their goodbye’s the applause continued, prompting Corgan to remain on stage for a short while, thanking the crowd for their appreciation. Billy Corgan is nothing if not one of the best guitarists of his generation, an amazing performer, and it is his ability to offer up these unique performances that make The Smashing Pumpkins such a great live act.
