Images and details on ‘Gish’ and ‘Siamese Dream’ reissues

Taken from Hipsters United

The Amazon listings for deluxe editions of Gish and Siamese Dream posted earlier this weekhave been updated with additional information and photos. Both are listed at $28.99 and are due out on November 29. Both sets include two CDs (one containing the remastered album and the other bonus tracks) and a DVD.  The DVDs are to contain complete videos of concerts at Metro in Chicago from 1990 (for Gish) and 1993 (for Siamese Dream). Both sets are also to include postcards; Gish‘s postcards feature six “never-before-seen” band photos, while Siamese Dream‘s feature the original 13 album collages. Finally, both sets feature “reimagined” cover artwork and a 24-page booklet with lyrics and commentary from Billy Corgan and music critic David Wild.

Tentative tracklistings for the bonus CDs were given to fans attending a meetup in Los Angeles on October 5. The tracklistings shown to fans in LA reflected 18 tracks for both Gish and Siamese Dream, but according to Amazon, Gish is to have 15 bonus tracks and Siamese Dream 17.

Smashing Pumpkins have posted a video, featuring ‘Daydream’, from the test pressing for the 180 gram Gish vinyl. Sounds amazing!

Billy Corgan gives us an update about Oceania and the future Smashing Pumpkins re-releases.

Since we started Ozphoria started 9 years ago we’ve done our fair few mixtape collections as a way of focusing on what we all love about The Smashing Pumpkins, the music. All the other stuff that comes with being a fan of one of the most creative and forever-changing bands aside we have some amazing memories with the music, new and old, that we (and the band) hold so close to our hearts, our sacred hearts.
So with that Gish segue I’ve put together another Ozphoria collection to celebrate 20 years of the Smashing Pumpkins debut - Gish. The album that introduced the world to a band that would never stay the same and always evolve, this is what I wanted to capture in this (digital) mixtape.
Armed with our extensive live recording collection at Ozphoria HQ and the Smashing Pumpkins on the Live Media Archive here is a live Gish mixtape featuring versions of the songs from the album from over the years. As all Pumpkinheads will know with the recordings available and renditions of songs, this mixtape could have multiple combinations … but this is how the pieces fell together for me today. Tomorrow everything could have been different.
I hope you all enjoy looking back at these songs and how the songs have evolved since the beginning.
Thanks,Simon (@sunky) & Bree (@BreeMateljan)
Note: As always a huge thank you to all the people that have taken the time to record and share their recordings with the Smashing Pumpkins community. We really appreciate your efforts.

Gish turns 20 years today, so to celebrate here is the Smashing Pumpkins with I Am One.

We will post a few Gish related videos over the weekend.

Pumpkins offer glimpse into the archives

The Smashing Pumpkins’ official Facebook page offered a sneak peek into the band’s archives tonight by posting a picture of an “about to be transferred” 4-track casette tape from the “Gish/Siamese era.”  According to the post, over 60 such tapes have already been transferred, presumably for the purpose of identifying material to be released over the next couple of years.

The tracklist on the tape, written in Billy Corgan’s distinctive handwriting, consists of:

  •     Bury Me – 1st version
  •     Prayer Music
  •     Daydream
  •     Final Precursor to C’Mon
  •     Bury Me
  •     C’Mon 1
  •     C’Mon 2
  •     Acoustic #2
  •     Semi-New Acoustic “Heal Me”
