Billy updates about Pisces Iscariot reissue and Oceania

Over a series of several tweets this afternoon, Smashing Pumpkins head Billy Corgan has tipped fans to some much-awaited news. Corgan reports that he is signing a record deal for the Pumpkins’ new album Oceania. Sessions for the album finished back in September; the band has been shopping the album to record labels since that time. Corgan promises a release date announcement “in the next few weeks.”

Regarding the Pumpkins’ impending reissue of 1994′s Pisces Iscariot, Corgan reports that the bonus CD will include a “recreation” of the band’s original 1988 demo tape and a new remix of “Glynis” made from the original master tapes. For DVD component of the Pisces reissue, Corgan promises “a full UN-EDITED performance (1988) on local cable access w/ false starts, dialogue (shot at Roselle Music!).” That would be the November 19, 1988 show, recorded live for the Pulse cable access program in Chicago. Last we heard, the Pisces reissue is set to drop on April 21 in conjunction with Record Store Day.

Download: Have Faithe, Be Merrie In an email sent from the SPRC out to fans there was a reminder of all the exciting things happening in 2012 for fans, from the release of Oceania, the EMI/Virgin reissues and other SPRC releases. The email from the Pumpkins also made mention of a very special tour planned for 2012. In a recent interview Billy said they were toying with the idea of touring Oceania by performing the entire album beginning to end before finishing the set with ‘classic’ Smashing Pumpkins songs, perhaps this is what they might mean by ‘special tour’ or something entirely different. Also, a massive happy holidays to all the supporters of Ozphoria! We look forward to 2012, it’s a special year for us … we turn 10 years old.  - Simon & Bree
