On September 5th 2000 the Smashing Pumpkins released Machina II / Friends and Enemies of Modern Music, ten years later the band are in a new form but are releasing all their music online for free under the project of Teargarden by Kaleidyscope.

We wanted to mark this anniversary and remind people that 10 years ago (long before Radiohead or Nine Inch Nails were giving music away for free online) the Smashing Pumpkins were one of the first bands to embrace the free distribution methods the Internet offers.

Ten years has sure flown by quickly and I’m sure we all wished back then the Smashing Pumpkins would still be releasing music 10 years later with new methods like they are now. So speaking of that, keep an eye out in the next few weeks for next song from Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, according to a tweet from Billy - it is one of his favourites.
