A huge thank you to Smashing Pumpkins and Secret Sounds for enabling us to pass this information on to fans.

In addition to playing the sold out Splendour in the Grass festival, we’re excited to announce that Smashing Pumpkins will be playing very special sideshows in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland.
For these headline performances, THE SMASHING PUMPKINS will be debuting a unique stage design in Australia created to reflect the visual themes to go along with the full presentation of their new album, “Oceania” – which is set for release on June 22, 2012, through Create/Control – as well as playing plenty of classic Pumpkins catalogue.
Said Billy Corgan of the new show: “Australia is the perfect place to usher in a new era of The Smashing Pumpkins, where we look to combine an epic rock show with the latest in visual mapping technology to create a one-of-a-kind experience for our fans.”

The bio for Smashing Pumpkins on Ticketmaster’s site has been updated a short while ago to include details of a tentative ticket sale date (edit: since been removed) and support band for the bands Splendour sideshow dates.
According to Ticketmaster’s write-up of Secret Sounds’ press release, Wolfmother will play support to the band on two of the dates.
Stay tuned for more info with the official announcement to come this afternoon.
Just over 2 weeks ago The Smashing Pumpkins were confirmed for Splendour in the Grass and most fans have waited patiently while other headline acts have been confirmed for sideshows around Australia.
It’s with great excitement we are pleased to announce the Smashing Pumpkins will be adding a few extra shows onto their tour down under in July. Apart from playing the closing night (Sunday 29th July) of Splendour in the Grass you will also be able to catch the Smashing Pumpkins on the following dates:

Twitter user @richardhomer posted the above picture, which seems to be a copy of the special flexi disc SPRC are sending out to fans who experienced shipping issues with the Gish/Siamese Dream resissues ordered from smashingpumpkins.com.
The track on the disc is known as Blissed, a previously unreleased song.
Most fans we’ve heard from in the US are still waiting on their copies to arrive, with most people reporting their copies shipped on the 30th of April. Not expecting our copy to arrive in Australia for at least a week or so, so please let us know if you receive yours early.

Brisbane based ‘artist-empowering’ label Create/Control has announced that The Smashing Pumpkins are the next band to join their roster, releasing their new album through the label in June.
The brand new label announced their first signings just a few weeks ago, with current hype acts like New Zealand’s OPOSSOM and Brisbane’s The Jungle Giants joining Canadian indie darlings Metric as three very strong initial signings, but the announcement of the grunge legends’ signing will no doubt give the label an unspeakable amount of extra exposure to a wider market.
The Smashing Pumpkins were one of the most enduring bands of the 1990s alternative boom, with enormous record sales and numerous hits spawned from the six records before their initial split in 2000. The band’s new record Oceania is believed to be a return to the styles showcased on earlier records Gish and Siamese Dream, two records which earned the band enormous acclaim upon their release.
It is believed that The Smashing Pumpkins’ frontman, creative lynchpin and sole remaining member from the ‘90s Billy Corgan was attracted to the artist-friendly ethos of Create/Control and considered it the ideal label through which to release the album.
Corgan has long been outspoken on the subject of record labels and the music industry in general; trialing an online-only release method for the Pumpkins’ most recent releaseTeargarden by Kaleidyscope and mentioning to Spinner in 2010, “Something about the need for the major label system to corner the market has squeezed the excitement out of music.”
Oceania will be released in Australia on Friday 22 June. The Smashing Pumpkins headline the final day of the sold out Splendour In The Grass festival in Byron Bay this July.
Billy Corgan says upcoming release Oceania embodies all facets of his work, but with more immediacy; tells of frustration with being referred to as a ‘nostalgia act’; and his respect for the decision of Axl Rose who chose to boycott Guns N’ Roses’ recent Hall of Fame induction due to past differences with bandmates.
